Read This BEFORE: You start marketing on one platform.
So you launched your business. Congratulations! You have just completed the scariest and most important part of growing your business.
You got started.
But now what? If you’re selling product - odds are you already uploaded your products to a social site or website to help spread awareness.
But… did you post your content on the right platform? Did you do your market research beforehand?
As a business owner myself I get it, you have enough on your plate. So much to do and not a whole bunch of time. But, when it comes to marketing, this is something you just cannot afford to skip out on. Doing so can not only be a whole time sucker, but also be the very thing that loses your hundreds, thousands or even millions of dollars.
Which is why I wanted to give you this fair warning. Despite, what other marketers may tell you. When starting out, while it may be great to focus on one platform, master it and then branch off into different platforms. DON’T! Here’s why: YOU DON’T OWN THE PLATFORM.
That’s right, far too often I speak with small businesses about their content and most have experienced the GREAT shadow ban, or worst they’ve experienced getting hacked AND lost all of their followers as a result!
Their hard earned work, all gone due to something that was probably not even their fault. And the best part? They cannot do anything about it. What adds to the unfortunate event that just transpired is that some platforms such as Instagram do not even have a support channel for you to get help!
So okay, you get you don’t own the platform, you are understanding the importance of diversifying your content. But, what is the solution?!
The answer is simple.
Send your followers to an email list. Building an email list, while time consuming as it may be - is the best thing you can do for your business. Your email list is the very thing that will keep your brand afloat - if say all of your social media accounts disappear, and it should be the very thing you focus on trying to get your followers to be apart of, if this were to come true.
What makes it better than other social platforms is simple: YOU OWN THE ACCESS TO THE EMAILS YOU GATHERED. Yup, you heard that right. You put in the work to gather their emails, they belong to you. Meaning at any point in time, you can switch email marketing platforms and continue from wherever you left off.
So how can you get started?
One way you can build your email list, is by creating a Freebie. Now a freebie can come in many forms, they can be webinars, pdf’s, checklists, videos, 7 or 5 day challenges, or more! The possibilities are endless, and you can create one that is specific to your ideal clients needs.
